One of the best pieces of advice I have received while on this journey as an inventor has been, to obtain a hardbound note book and write ALL of my ideas in it. Make sure the page do not come out easily. I prefer a note book without lines or a grid. Its just my preference, you may like a notebook with a grid or writing lines. Whichever you use, and it works for you, that is terrific! Now, what ideas should you write? Like i said before, ALL! It doesn’t matter what the idea is. , The idea could pertain to an invention, a system or process, or even a book concept or movie idea.
Ideas don’t usually come when you are ready for them. Ideas sometimes come in the middle of the night. Sometime Ideas come while i am at work or taking a walk somewhere. In this instance, I have multiple note books to keep my ideas in. I have one by my bedside, one in my carry bag, and even one notebook in my home office near my computer. Nothing is worse than having an idea and telling yourself , “ I will remember it in the morning” and forgetting the whole idea all together (i have done this too many times). I also utilize my note book to create task list and strike out all tasks accomplished once they are completed. I keep telephone numbers, contact names, as well as information from store products manufactures, to book names I would like to purchase at a later date. Your notebook is key to organizing your thoughts as well as allow you to draw your ideas in them for concepts you have thought of. There will be times when you look at previous entries of your notebook and ask your self, “what was I thinking of” and some times you will see a previous thought up idea and determine if you want to move forward with that project or not. Any way you do it, the goal is to get your ideas out of your head and onto paper. Remember, Patented Inventions are submitted in drawings and writing, without it on paper, it is only a dream.
Happy Inventing!
